Lee and Penny Anderson invite you to explore the culture, vineyards, winemaking traditions, state of the art winery, wine bar, and Villa at Korta Katarina, a Relais & Châteaux member.
Croatia sits across the Adriatic from one of the most revered wine regions in the world. Southern Croatia's rugged coastline, with its dozens of white sand islands and hidden coves, is home to winemaking traditions that date back to 5 B.C.
Today, there are over 300 defined wine regions in Croatia. These regions are divided between the warmer continental areas and the coastal stretches that boast ideal Mediterranean temperatures. These areas produce 64 indigenous grape varietals. Link to wine region map. Located on the Dalmatian Coast’s Pelješac Peninsula, Korta Katarina offers a portfolio of wines from the regions of Dingač and Postup (Plavac Mali & Zinfandel) and Čara (Pošip) on the Island of Korčula.
Croatia has a wine classification system for quality levels. Only about 5% of the country's wines qualify for the "Vrhunsko Vino" or "Premium Quality Wine" designation. A slightly larger percentage of wines are classified as "Kvalitetno Vino" or "Quality Wine," and the remaining wine is labeled "Stolno Vino" or "Table Wine."
VARIETAL: Pošip
Appellation: Čara, Korčula Island
Alcohol: 13.50%
Bottle format: 0.75L
A special selection of the best grapes from the vineyards of Čara, located on Korčula Island, allows for a limited series of only 1,900 bottles. The American's appearance has a beautiful golden hue and citrus guided touches with the flavors of baked apple, quince, hint of vanilla and toasted bread. The rich mouthfeel is harmonized by a lasting thread of bright acidity that lifts and maintains freshness on the long finish with flavors of dried almonds and apricots.

VARIETAL: Zinfandel
Appellation: Pelješac Peninsula
Alcohol: 14.50%
Bottle format: 0.75L
Tastes rich, full-bodied, firm in structure, with an abundance of cherry sweetness at the finish and some dark chocolate. After opening, the wine gets wonderful forest notes of sour black-bitter oak, crumpled blueberry bush leaves and forest soil.
The integration of oak in this wine is interesting, and the signature of the Korta Katarina wine making process. Namely, the management of wooden oak barrels is a small science and art in itself. Scents reminiscent of sweet spices coming from the oak are more noticeable only after opening in a glass, so watching the development of this wine is a real pleasure.
It is far more complex than its most famous brother from America. It has been awarded valuable prizes: a Bronze Medal at USA Wine Ratings 2020 and a Silver Medal at Sommelier's Choice Awards 2020.

A special selection of the finest grapes in the vineyard and the best hand-sorted grains gave this special wine a limited series of only 2.000 bottles. Dark blackberry in color, leading to a slightly ruby colored rim. Chocolate covered dark Bing Cherries, dried currants and stewed plums lift the aromatics of the wine while hints of forest floor, sage and saddled leather float from its tertiary levels.
