My favorite quote from the Korta Katarina wine house is that "great wines are a reflection of their origin". No matter how good a wine is, if it can come from any part of the world, if it is "repeatable" The identity of the wine is divided in equal parts into the variety, the tradition of winemaking and the environment in which it originated. Subtract any of these three parts, from the holy trinity of great wines, and they cannot exist. If you gave a Riesling vineyard in Stellenbosch or Clare Valley to a great wine master from, for example, Moselle, that Riesling, no matter how good, would not look like the one from Moselle. In the same way, our master winemaker from Pelješac could create good and even great wines elsewhere in the world, but it would not be like Pelješac.
